All That Came Before - Games - 200

Objective:

Play a game of Senet, the oldest recorded tabletop game in history.

Details:

The game of Senet is so old that we are uncertain of it's rules. However, there are educated guesses as to how the game is played.

1) Read the rules. While you can play any version you like, the rules compiled by Daniel U. Thibault are suggested. If you don't fully understand the game after the first read through, consider reading the rules a second time. When teaching a new game to a friend, it's a good idea to have a good grasp on the rules before starting.

2) Gather the supplies needed to play. You'll need a board, which you can print out, or draw yourself. You'll also need two sets of five identical pawns. Using five dimes and five nickels would work fine. Last, you'll need the four throwing sticks. There are examples online of people successfully using popsicle sticks for this purpose.

3) Grab a friend to play with. Explain the rules and dive in.

4) Take a photo that documents your game experience and post it to Instagram, Twitter, or our Facebook Group. If posting to Instagram or Twitter, use the tags with the tags #questscouts and #Senet. (As always, using a non-private account is best so we can see what you're up to!)
